DAN MIRGALIOTTA SUCKS BALLS

Well ufc 101 came and went and little changed. Silva can beat up slower, shitty opponents, bj penn is still a bitch. The standout reaffirmation at this PPV was Dan "The bought and paid for, shitheel turd" Mirgliotta. How many matches does this guy have to ruin before the state athletic commission kicks him to the curb? Newsflash: Looking tough and laying in a tanning bed does NOT make you a good ref. Do you have any idea what you are doing in the cage Dan, or is all just colourful lights and bells? What kind of fucked up world does the ufc exist in where they shelf an amazing ref like Big Dan McCarthy and continue to use a faggot with an outstanding reputation for ruining fights?

No Deal

I was hoping like hell that Fedor would sign with the UFC, but now that it hasn't happened, I can't say I'm surprised. My big problem is the bullshit way he presents things to the fans. White sounds like a broken record, "He doesn't want to fight the best, he doesn't want to fight the best." Instead of giving us your bullshit Dana, and avoiding the question about 'the sticking point', how about actually telling us what went wrong in the negotiations? Did Finklestien want to partner with the UFC? Was that why you didn't sign him? Was it something else? Yet another reason why the true MMA fan simply cannot respect this turd. He poses as a straight shooter, and is everything but. His job is to get the guys required to make the fights that we want to see and he's failed. Now we have to watch Fedor KO second-rate jobbers in fuckin Strikeforce. Congrats Dana. Congrats on being a cocksucker and an inadequate bitch.

Sapp Vs. Lashley

Could have spotted this a mile away. Lashley eluded to possibly striking with Sapp, but I knew he'd pull this bullshit. Can't say I blame him though. Who in their right mind wants to trade with Bob Sapp? This just proves that Bob should stick with K-1 during his 'golden years' of MMA. His striking is deadly, but he's useless on the ground.

The only REAL Silva in the UFC

Few can argue that Wanderlei has been less successful since joining the UFC. With a 1-5 record, many wonder why Dana "Fuckhead" White hasn't fired him yet. The reason is really quite simple. Every time Wanderlei fights, he fights balls-out, and gives the crowd what they want. Even in his losses, he has received standing ovations; often overshadowing the victor with his heart, power, and sheer technique.

The Liddell, Jardine, Jackson, and Franklin fights were all barn burners. Huge shots being thrown left and right. Near KO's in every bout, and undeniable electricity in the air.

Then you have a middleweight champion who has defended his belt five times, and bears the same last name as Wanderlei, but true MMA fans would rather take a cheese grater to their respective ballsacks than watch his matches. Why? Because Anderson Silva is a boring douchebag who would rather hang back, dance around, and piss off the crowd with shameful showing after shameful showing. Keep in mind that this whole time, you have another Silva, in the same organization, with a far worse record, getting ovation after ovation, and garnering far more popularity. What's worse is that Anderson "Shit-heel" Silva has also recently taken to insulting Wanderlei on both personal and professional levels.

I for one would just love to see Silva Vs. Silva. The very thought of Anderson being humiliated, and having his cowardly head stomped in gives me a woody I could hang my coat on.

UFC 2009 Undisputed CAF Blueprints

Just in case you are looking to make some MMA fighters from other promotions, I've found a threat with good models and instructions. The Charles Bennett is especially good.

Sokoud-who?

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou is a fucking piece of dreadlocked dogshit. Throw this turd in the gutter where he belongs. I can't believe that Team Quest would have anything to do with a fuckheadded looser like this guy. At Dream 9 this week, he faced Jan "The Giant" Nortje. Fast forward to 2:40 to see his 'victory'. In a fuckin douchebag maneuver a-la Gomi, Sokoudju continued to beat on a downed opponent even AFTER the ref dove between them, waving his arms. I loved Sokoudju in Pride. Even when he sucked in the UFC, I remained a fan. When I heard he was facing Babalu at Affliction, I was itching to see Sokoudju school his ass. Like most, I hate Bablu because of his late submission release at UFC 74, which might go down as one of the most cowardly acts in the history of MMA. Sokoudju, Babalu and Gomi can go fuck their respective mothers. The only place they should be fighting is in a girls league, because clearly none of them know what it means to be real men; let alone sportsmen.

The Ronin - Carlos Newton

Not much to say about Carlos except that he's the man. He was amazing in both the Pride and UFC promotions, but dropped out of sight for quite some time. He recently made a comeback in Canada's W-1 promotion, defeating Nabil Khatib in the first round by KO. What's more, Carlos looked to be in the best shape of his life. Could this be the start of a comeback from the Ronin? Only time will tell.

Turd Vs. Turd

Well there haven't been any posts in here in awhile. Partially because I have other shit to do, and am the only writer here; and partly because nothing interesting is really happening in MMA right now. Machida/Evans will be a snore, Sherk is a washed-up roid-freak, and Serra vs. Hughes involves Matt Serra and Matt Hughes. The only thing that makes this match even remotely interesting, is the possibility that they could both mortally injure one another. I know the odds are slim, but a guy can dream. Can't he? Anyways, Hughes is an asshole and a member of the KKK, and Serra is a lispy, whiny douchebag (and possibly gay).

Born to Kick

Everyone loves seeing someone kick someone else in the head. It's even better when the man doing the kicking is Peter Aerts. I visited Peter's shittypedia page. You have to scroll down for five fuckin' minutes to see his whole record. This guy has fought the population of a small town. 3 time K-1 World GP Champion. 3 fuckin' times! And he was up against tough motherfuckers like Sefo, Hoost, Bojansky, LeBanner etc etc. He's known as The Dutch Lumberjack because he cuts his opponents down like trees with his insane kicks.

Punching Handicapped People in the Face

You look at a lot of the athletic achievements made by Kyle Maynard, and you'd have to be a fool to say that the guy is not exceptional. Having attended UFC 97, I can easily say that I would have rather seen an amputee getting his ass kicked than Silva vs. Leitis. The fact that watching old people sleep would've been more interesting than UFC 97, does not change the fact that the recent Maynard match was and is a freak-show, with no real place in MMA.

It's hard to believe that I'm actually writing a posting trying to convince you that beating on amputees is a bad thing. Kyle may have done some amazing things in his life, and I definitely wish the guy all the best, but there has to be a line; if not for the public's sake, then definitely for his. If Maynard is allowed to continue competing in MMA, he is putting himself in a much more dangerous position than any other competitor. When he gets hurt (which he definitely will if allowed to continue), who will be to blame? Of course he has made this decision on his own, and he is ultimately responsible for his own well-being, but athletic commissions and fight promotions need to shoulder at least some of the burden for safety(as they do with all fighters). A blind person would not be allowed to drive, so why should an armless, legless amputee be able to compete in what is arguably the most dangerous sport in the world? Like a farmer needs a field, an MMA fighter needs arms and legs.

And who is the guy in this picture; bending over to punch the armless, legless Kyle in the face? What kind of 'fighter' would take a fight like that? That guy sucks. If you have to give Kyle a fight, why not put him up against a blind fighter...or a midget? Even the odds a little. Heck, why not start up a disabled fight league? I'm getting a woody just thinking of two hulking tards pounding the shit out of one another with their deformed limbs; drool flying all over the place. And all for our general amusement.

I for one, look at a picture like the one above, and I get a real deep sense that amputees simply shouldn't be competing in MMA; at least not against able-bodied fighters. I often go with my gut when information is erroneous or absent, and while there is no lack of substantial info here, there is just something about amputees competing in MMA seems very wrong.

Mighty Mo

This guy is truly amazing, and he makes me want to watch standup MMA(which is what K-1 is regardless of what Dana the douchebag shitheel says)exclusively. Mo is known in some circles as "The Giant Killer", and for good reason. He's defeated the likes of Jan "The Giant" Nortje, Hong Man-Boy Choi and Gary "The Jobber" Goodridge. What really sets him apart from the herd is his frightening power and highlight reel finishes. I have never seen anyone with his kind of punching power. He has a wide, looping overhand right that can turn a man into a drooling quadriplegic. I'll be doing a full piece on Mo later, but for now, here's the highlight video complimented by a video showing him knocking out Choi:

The Babyfaced Assassin

While he might not be a mainstay in the boring old UFC, Josh Barnett is nothing if not one of the busiest fighters on the MMA scene. A well rounded heavyweight with a solid amateur wrestling background makes him dangerous, his desire and ability to strike makes him downright frightening.

Josh has fought in pretty much every promotion out there. From pro-wrestling (aka fake-wrestling) in Japan, to Pancrase. From Pride FC to the UFC Heavyweight Championship in the US, he is truly an international superstar of the sport. As is already widely known, Barnett beat Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight title back in UFC 36, only to have it taken away for failing a drug test. To this day, Barnett denies these allegations. After being stripped of the title, Josh headed in search of greener pastures. He found a home in several Japanese fight promotions, but his real success in Japan would come in October of 2004, when Josh began fighting for the Pride Fighting Championships. While his first two matches in Pride would consist of back-to-back losses to Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipovic, Josh became a mainstay in the organization. Fans fell in love with his entertaining style, both in the ring and out. In Pride, he would go on to defeat the likes of Aleksander Emelianenko, Mark Hunt, and Antonio Minataro Rodrigo Nogueira. He would also be defeated a thrid time by Cro-Cop. I remember seeing these matched myself. While these losses may look bad when you look at his record in a general sense, the matches themselves were fuckin awesome, and Barnett has nothing to be ashamed of from his performances. Within the past two years, he has defeated Jeff Monson at Sengoku 2 and both Gilbert Yvel and Pedro Rizzo in Affliction.

What's next for The Baby Faced assassin you may ask your stupid fuckin self? He's going to be fighting Fedor Emelianenko at the next Affliction event, for the WAMMA Heavyweight Championship. This is an extremely interesting match that I can't wait to steal from my illegal satellite dish. Barnett already defeated Fedor's cousin back in Pride, yet unlike Fedor, Josh couldn't get past Cro-Cop. We can count on both of them wanting to keep it standing, and they can both strike like hell, but if it does go to the ground, they are both masters of ground and pound and submissions. This match is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. As far as predictions go, I just cannot say. There are too many factors. I am leaning towards Fedor due to the fact that he is seemingly unbeatable, but then I think about Barnett, and I think that if anyone can beat Fedor, it would be a guy like Josh.

Cocksucker

Dana White is a piece of shit. This crown prince of douchebags has fucked up the UFC so much, that abortions like UFC 97 will soon be the norm. He can shove his weak, half-hearted apology up his loose, fucked-out asshole. In his self-proclaimed efforts to turn MMA into a sport (which it was and is already), Dana has been little more than a hindrance to the development and entertainment-factor of the UFC, and MMA as a whole.

I am sitting here, trying to organize all of the many valid reasons why White is a faggot and an incompetent piece of shit; but I have decided against that route. From sassing GSP for wanting to be the REAL champion before wearing the title, to rejecting the fans' desire to see Kimbo compete in the octagon (regardless of wehether or not he would've sucked balls). From trying to alienate UFC fighters from their management, to insulting and rejecting the greatest heavyweight ever in Emelianenko Fedor; White has proven himself a shit-heel in so many ways, that any explanations from me would not do him justice. Sufficed to say, Dana White is like that turd that lingers in the toilet no matter how many times you flush. Did I mention that he used to be an aerobics instructor? What a fag.

His blogs sucked. I'm glad they're gone. He gives faggot-hating chauvanists a bad name. I may be crossing some invisible line by suggesting that Dana White is a filthy, child rapist, but...

Gomi Vs. Diaz

The Fight:

Interview with Diaz after the fight:

Interview with Gomi after the fight:

Gomi Means Garbage

In Shooto, Bushido, and the closing days of Pride, a truly unique fighter emerged in the land of the rising sun. A Japanese fighter with the heart of a lion. He had fists of stone and a chin that should’ve had an ‘out of order’ sign hanging off of it. What’s more, this young fighter truly fought balls out, standing toe to toe and banging with the best at a time when going to the mat was the norm for Japanese fighters.

Undefeated in the Shooto organization, “The Fireball Kid” Takanori Gomi won an impressive fourteen straight fights. While he clearly dominated the competition, his time at Shooto did not make him the renowned figure he would become. With most of his wins coming by way of decision, his true punching power and rock solid chin were yet to be tested. After suffering his first loss in 2003 to Joachim “Hellboy” Hansen, Gomi lost to another top-rate fighter in B.J. Penn at Rumble on the Rock 4.

The loss to Penn would mark the beginning of the Gomi many of us would come to love and admire. He moved to the fledgling Bushido promotion (an offshoot of Pride FC), and scored his first three victories via TKO in the first round. For audiences who had grown to expect little more than Jujitsu and Judo from their native fighters, the Japanese fans instantly fell in love with their fellow countryman, who stood and traded with the fiercest foreign competitors.

One of Gomi’s most notable rivalries was against the American fighter Charles “Krazy Horse” Benett. More than simply a match of fighters, many Japanese MMA fans saw this as a showdown between America and Japan. While Benett’s punching power was unquestionably on par with Gomi’s, Benett proved to be consistently disrespectful to refs, fighters, fans, and the Bushido organization as a whole. Before his title shot, Benett would make constant claims that Gomi was ducking him, and that the Japanese promotion was protecting him. In 2005, at Bushido 5 in Osaka, Benett got his wish and the two faced off. The victory went to Gomi at 5:52 of the first round due to a kimura, but Benett never tapped. While many fight fans were happy to see the loud-mouthed Benett defeated, there could be no denying that the ‘victory’ was sour at best. This would prove to be one of the first clear examples of Japanese fight promotions showing a bias towards Gomi. The reasons behind this bias can only be politely speculated on, but frankly speaking, the hyper-nationalism so predominant in Japanese MMA promotions was likely the dominant factor.

In the semi-finals of the lightweight tournament at Bushido seven, Gomi faced off against a Brazilian by the name of Luiz Azeredo. While Gomi would go on to win a decision, this match would mark the beginning of the end for the Fireball Kid. After catching Azeredo with a hook, the referee moved to end the fight. With a sudden, blatant disregard for the rules and the ref, Gomi (in one of the most cowardly acts witnessed by this MMA fan) jumped on his unconscious opponent and continued his attack. Officials and team members from both sides flooded into the ring in an attempt to restore order. Gomi would later issue an apology to the fans in which he claims that ‘adrenaline’ was the cause of his unsportsmanlike conduct.

In 2005, Gomi became the Pride Lightweight Champion by defeating Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hayato Sakurai in the promotion’s eight-man, tournament. Next, he would suffer a first round triangle choke submission in a non-title fight against Marcus Aurelio. Gomi would rematch against Aurelio for the title at Bushido 13 in 2006. This ‘match’ was comparable to the Silva/Leitis debauchery that we were exposed to at this year’s UFC 97, with neither fighter willing to…fight. Gomi would win the match via split-decision, but it would serve as more of a blemish for the Fireball Kid, than a solidification of his champion status.

Gomi’s next notable performance came at Pride 33 as he took on Nick Diaz. This bout against Diaz was arguably one of the best MMA matches in recent history. The two traded devastating blows throughout the fight, and while Diaz definitely sustained more visible damage, he ended Gomi in the second with a rarely seen gogplata submission. This victory for Diaz was subsequently changed to a no-contest by the NSAC after Diaz tested positive for wacky tobaccy. There is still controversy surrounding this ruling as marijuana is clearly not a performance enhancing drug. In fact, many make the claim that marijuana slows reaction time and generally reduces performance levels, so if Diaz beat Gomi in such an impressive fashion while under the influence of a performance inhibiting drug, then this MMA fan would love to have seen what Diaz could’ve done to Gomi without the ‘aide’ of weed . Gomi’s management made the claim that marijuana gave Diaz a higher pain threshold which allowed him to endure more punishment than usual.

In May of 2006, Zuffa purchased (and subsequently closed down) the Pride promotion. Soon after, a new Japanese promotion by the name of World Victory Road popped up. In the promotion’s first two events, Gomi defeated Duane Ludwig and some no-name Korean fighter, both in unimpressive fashions with a TKO due to a cut and a decision.

Gomi competed again in November of 2008, and January 2009 against two unknowns. He lost both matches in an unimpressive fashion, and subsequently disappeared from the MMA scene altogether.

In a recent interview, Gomi was asked about his latest performances and his leaving the MMA scene. In yet another seemingly half-hearted apology, Gomi said that he had been focusing on the development of his gym (Rascal Gym), and included that he is not the fighter he once was. The interviewer then pointed out that the name of the last event in which he performed so poorly was “Road to Gomi” (Translated from Japanese). Gomi reiterated that he does not think he is the fighter he once was, and said that he was sorry.

Takanori Gomi had all the tools and talent to be one of the greatest lightweights ever. What’s more, he had the whole nation of Japan behind him. While the Fireball Kid certainly had his time in the sun, and while few can deny the impact he’s had on the sport; when looking at his career in a general sense, it’s had to deny the bitter taste left in my mouth. I could easily wrap this up by simply saying that Gomi is a wash-up who should join Sakuraba in the annals of mediocrity. And I will.

Shane Who?

With fists like anvils, a perfect record with every win coming in the first round, and an ability to knock out first-rate opponents with ease; it really makes me scratch my head when wondering why we don't hear more about Shane Carwin.

After walking through his first eight opponents, Carwin became the Ring of Fire, heavyweight champion before signing with the UFC. Continuing his domination in the UFC with three more first round victories. Carwin's most recent win against Gonzaga was nothing less than impressive as he KO'd the Brazilian with one seemingly half-hearted punch.

Where does Carwin go from here? Many speak of a match against Herring or DosSantos. Some say Congo would be a worthy adversary. Shane's record speaks volumes about his abilities, and while he does not yet have the star power of a Lesnar, he has certainly proven his right to be in the octagon.

With a strong desire and ability to KO his opponents early, and an impressive amateur wrestling background, the sky is the limits for this 34 year-old mixed martial artist. In Carwin, we may be looking at the makings of a new UFC Heavyweight Champ, but in an industry where everything can change from one moment to the next, we will all just have to wait and see what is in store for Shane "The Engineer" Carwin.

UFC Fighters as Products

I've been an MMA fan since UFC 1. I follow most promotions, and while I am not a walking fight encyclopedia, I do know a thing or two about the game and the players that make it up.

As I sat in my nice $200.00 seat at the bell center last Saturday, I could barely hold my nachos and beer down. My friend and I (who had never seen a live MMA event before) started saying, "It's ok. It's just the undercard. The main card matches will be better." This quickly turned to, "It's ok. The main event will bring the house down." By the main event, we were so angry we wanted to walk out, but that would've taken away from valuable booing time. As I sat there watching the gong-show that was Silva/Leitis, surrounded by 20,000 booing mma fans, I realized that this wasn't just something that 'happened'. Boring matches like this have been coming along with ever increasing frequency. Why?

The more the UFC enforces contractual exclusivity, internal talent development, and this 'no badmouthing anything UFC related' policy, the worse the matches get.

One of the reasons Pride was so great, was that the fight-makers would take talent from everywhere. Regardless of the organization's clear bias towards Japanese fighters, If they saw someone impressive from another country, organization etc, they took him. If he was controversial and outspoken; even better. More fodder for the fans. In the UFC, it's like big brother is overseeing everything and god help you if you have something negative to say about any aspect of the organization. Pride also had a set of rules that were conducive to exciting fights. Bouts were judged overall, based on how hard the fighters tried to end the fight. The UFC is still stuck in the stone-age with their round-by-round, boxing-style scoring. This method of scoring itself breeds boring fights as the competitors only fight to win their rounds rather than to destroy their opponents.

The real shocker was when I watched the replay at home and heard Joe Rogaine insulting the fans who were booing. He actually had the nerve to suggest that those booing did not understand technical fighting. How strange. Rogaine used to be the first to point out if a match was crap. As time has gone on, his leash has gotten shorter and shorter, and now he is little more than a cheerleading lapdog for UFC management. Pathetic. He should go back to comedy.

Dana White is also another big problem. He has shown extreme personal bias for his fighter friends time and time again. What's worse is he also shows bias against the fighters he personally doesn't like (just ask Vera). Props to him for issuing the apology, but while looking at the fighters as a problem, he should also take a look ine mirror.

I long for the days where larger than life fighters fought tooth and nail to end their opponents. Sometimes the fighters were cockey, and sometimes they said things they shouldn't have, but there was rarely a dull moment. As the UFC doesn't seem to want to shake things up or make any real changes to it's way of doing things, we can expect to see more and more fights that are about as exciting as watching cheese age.
