With fists like anvils, a perfect record with every win coming in the first round, and an ability to knock out first-rate opponents with ease; it really makes me scratch my head when wondering why we don't hear more about Shane Carwin. After walking through his first eight opponents, Carwin became the Ring of Fire, heavyweight champion before signing with the UFC. Continuing his domination in the UFC with three more first round victories. Carwin's most recent win against Gonzaga was nothing less than impressive as he KO'd the Brazilian with one seemingly half-hearted punch.
Where does Carwin go from here? Many speak of a match against Herring or DosSantos. Some say Congo would be a worthy adversary. Shane's record speaks volumes about his abilities, and while he does not yet have the star power of a Lesnar, he has certainly proven his right to be in the octagon.
With a strong desire and ability to KO his opponents early, and an impressive amateur wrestling background, the sky is the limits for this 34 year-old mixed martial artist. In Carwin, we may be looking at the makings of a new UFC Heavyweight Champ, but in an industry where everything can change from one moment to the next, we will all just have to wait and see what is in store for Shane "The Engineer" Carwin.
